Clinical Informatics

Helping you achieve your IV safety goals

Baxter’s Clinical Informatics Program is designed to help you achieve your IV safety goals.

The Baxter Clinical Informatics Program provides analysis in the areas of:

  • Guardian Safety Software Use
  • Battery Health
  • Alerts/Alarms
  • Asset Management
  • Inadvertent On/Off

How Do You Measure Your Patient Safety?

One of the Patient/Client Safety Goals from Accreditation Canada (AC) is to create a culture of safety within the organization. The related Required Organizational Practices (ROPs) suggests that one prospective analysis (e.g. FMEA) be completed annually as required evidence.

Another key Patient/Client Safety Goal from AC is to ensure the safe administration of parenteral medications. The related ROP requires documentation and evidence for continuous effective training on all infusion pumps.

Baxter’s Clincial Informatics Consulting team facilitates the clinical analysis of data from the Colleague™ infusion pump. Reports are generated to identify opportunities for improvement in the medication use process. In addition, these reports provide evidence for your organization on the effectiveness of your patient safety initiatives. The Clinical Informatics Consulting program also includes extensive support services for clinical education and training for your organization.

Medication Error Prevention at the Point of Care

Analysis of medication error prevention includes identifying medication(s) that were programmed incorrectly for infusion, the incorrect dosage programmed and the corrective actions taken.
